The most important rule to know as an employee: being paid a salary is not an exemption from entitlement to minimum wages or overtime wages in Tampa. Similarly, being labeled as a manager or director does not control or determine an exemption. Doing something important is not an exemption. In addition, some of the common violations occur when companies employ sales representatives and think that paying a commission or bonus makes them exempt when, in fact, they do not.
